Dr. Philip Akinyemi is a father of five, grandfather of six, and member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). He was born and raised in Nigeria and came to the USA in 1983 to further his education at the University of Detroit, Michigan, where he obtained a doctorate in mechanical engineering. He has worked for Ford Motor Company as a technical expert and served as an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit and Lawrence Technological University, Michigan. He holds a master’s degree in biblical theology from Michigan Theological Seminary. He is an ordained minister who has served as an assistant pastor and a radio Bible teacher. He lived in Michigan until his wife answered the call of God to come home, and now resides in Georgia.
After attending the Christian Writers’ Conference in Pennsylvania in June 2017 and taking a children’s writers’ class taught by Michelle Medlock Adams, I became passionate about writing children’s books. And now that I teach a grade 4-5 Sunday School class, I am even more encouraged. I see their passion and hunger for the Word of God, and you know very well that one cannot feed someone who is not hungry. No wonder our Lord Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6). I am excited and give God all the glory that my first children’s book, God Watches Over You, is finally out.
Feeding God’s people physically and spiritually has been in my spirit and was in my wife’s before she passed to glory (of blessed memory). My wife and I started a business named Feed My People (FMP) Services with the hope of making more money to provide for more people, but the business was not successful. However, the message “Feed My People” continues, and that is why this website is named fmp365.org (Feed My People). Children are part of God’s people; “Children are a heritage of the LORD” (Psalm 127:3).
By the grace of God, whatever is realized from selling this book will go towards the cause of feeding children everywhere in the world, especially children who go to bed with empty stomachs, and supplying books that will help them know God and realize that He loves and watches over them 24/7. This book will be translated into many languages to reach children over the world in their own languages.
